Welcome to Positive Steps Counselling Service. If you've landed here it's likely that you are in distress or have unresolved issues you want to address. If so, I hope this site gives you the information you need. Please be assured of a warm welcome on deciding to take your first positive step.
I'm a Person-Centred counsellor who works with individuals over the age of 16 and can help with a wide range of emotional needs. Maybe you feel it's time to tackle your anxiety or low self-esteem. Maybe you want to understand why you behave a certain way in relationships or are attracted to the 'wrong' type of partner. Perhaps you are grieving a loved one or are struggling to adjust to parenthood. Whatever the reason you've decided to access therapy I can offer you support without judgement.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am registered with the Information Commissioners office (ICO). My therapy room is in central Horwich and is easily accessible from surrounding areas including Bolton, Wigan, Westhoughton, Addlington and Chorley.
I hope you find all the information you need but if you have any questions at all please do contact me for an informal discussion on 07915 478014 or at email@example.com.

WHAT I OFFER
I believe life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. My aim is to enable people to live better, happier and more fulfilling lives. The information below outlines my theraputic approach as well as a brief introduction to me and information about my availability. If you have any questions, or just want to chat about whether therapy might be right for you, please get in touch. A warm welcome and a safe space awaits you.
I am a Person-Centred therapist with seven year's experience counselling clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide verity of issues. I am in my 40s and am married with two children. I currently teach on a counselling degree programme as well as work in private practice.
MY THERAPUTIC APPROACH
As a Person-Centred Therapist I believe that everyone has the ability to develop towards their full potential but that this can be blocked by negative life experiences, and perceptions or patterns of thinking established in early life, which can affect our sense of value.
My approach is to understand your experiences from your own perspective and to allow you to feel genuinely accepted as yourself. By working together in a safe, caring and confidential environment you will begin to understand your own feelings, strengthen your own identity and begin to separate yourself from the ideas of how you 'should' be. I provide support to work towards reconnecting with your own self-worth, inner values and way forward.
In Person-Centred therapy you control the pace and content of each session. It is useful for people of all ages and can be particularly useful to those wanting to explore their feelings or address a particular pattern of behaviour or thinking.

CONTACT & NEXT STEPS
You can contact me by phone, text or email. If I am unable to take your call please leave a message and I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
Once you have made contact with me we will arrange to have an initial 20 minute 'phone conversation to discuss your needs and what you would like to get from counselling. This is our opportunity to assess whether counselling would be helpful to you and whether I am the right counsellor for you. It's also your opportunity to ask me any questions you have.
We would then meet for 50 minute weekly sessions in my therapy room in Horwich near Bolton. There is no obligation to commit to a particular number of sessions.
I also offer skype or phone counselling for those who aren't able to physically attend a session and 'walk and talk' therapy for those looking for an alternative to the traditional therapy room.
