What I offer

I believe life’s too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. My aim is to enable people to live better, happier and more fulfilling lives. The information below outlines my therapeutic approach as well as a brief introduction to me and information about my availability. If you have any questions, or just want to chat about whether therapy might be right for you, or your child, please get in touch. A warm welcome and a safe space awaits you.

About me

I am a Person-Centred therapist with ten year’s experience counselling clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide verity of issues. I am in my 40s and am married with two children. I have experience teaching on a counselling degree programme and I am also an external moderator for counselling diplomas awarded by the Skills and Education Group. As well as working in private practice with adults and children I spend most of my week working for a charity counselling children and young people in high schools across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.

My Therapeutic approach

As a Person-Centred Therapist I believe that everyone has the ability to develop towards their full potential but that this can be blocked by negative life experiences, and perceptions or patterns of thinking established in early life, which  can affect our sense of value.

My approach is to understand your experiences from your own perspective and to allow you to feel genuinely accepted as yourself. By working together in a safe, caring and confidential environment  you will begin to understand your own feelings, strengthen your own identity and begin to separate yourself from the ideas of how you ‘should’ be. I provide support  to work towards reconnecting with your own self-worth, inner values and way forward.

In Person-Centred therapy you control the pace and content of each session. It is useful for people of all ages and can be particularly useful to those wanting to explore their feelings or address a particular pattern of behaviour or thinking.

When working with children and young people I use a verity of creative methods to help them explore their feelings and develop coping mechanisms. I also use CBT techniques and psycho education to help young people establish more positive thought patterns and to understand and manage their anxiety.

Issues I work with

I work with a wide range of issues. The following list is not exhaustive but represents  issues which clients frequently present with:

I also work with infant loss and am accredited by the Infant Loss Foundation (you can find me on their accredited register).
